Our next track meet is set down for Saturday 8th January. We will have a 3:30pm warm up (some may need to get there early to get rid of some post christmas lunches!!! ) and a 4:00pm start. The program for the day is below.

4:00pm 60m 4:30pm Long/Triple Jump
4:15pm 100m 5:15pm Discus
5:00pm 200m 5:30pm Shot Put
5:45pm 300m

Our next track meet is on this Saturday 17th December with a warm up at 3:30pm and a 4:00pm start. As this will be our last track meet for the year, the committee would like to thank everyone that has helped out and attended throughout the course of the year and we would like to wish everyone a very MERY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

This weeks meet will be a shortened program so as we can get stuck into the food and drink for our break up afterwards. If everyone attending could please bring a plate with food of course ( before everyone gets back to me saying the usual comment) and their own delights in the liquid category.

Hoping to see as many smiling faces as possible on Saturday for the break up party.

Coast athletes win gold at PanPac Masters games

Nine local athletes from the Sunshine Coast Masters Athletics Club returned with nineteen gold medals and a swag of silver and bronze from the PanPac masters games on the Gold Coast earlier this month. All athletes came home with medals and three were part of record breaking relay teams. Regular local runner George Harrod was the most successful with six golds on the track in the mens 80 – 84 group including games records in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays. Ken Daniels was another member of the 4 x 400 team.  He won golds also in the hurdles, javelin and high jump. Noela Brameld was the most successful local woman with five golds from the track and the long jump.  Lesley Hamilton returned with 2 gold, 2 silver and a bronze from her six events and Michelle Schafer won the javelin, shot and hurdles in her age group. Kylie Denny put in a notable performance as part of record breaking 4 x 100 relay in the womens 35+ group to add to her silver medals in the 60 100 and 200 metre sprints.  Other local athletes to compete included Claire Watkins, a silver in the 800m and a bronze in the discus, Julia Nichols, second in the long jump, and Denise Quinn, third in the long jump.

The track meet set down for today has been cancelled due to the wet weather.

Please note that the committee meeting will still go ahead at 3:00pm in the canteen.
